Jerry Nadler, a longstanding member of the U.S. Congress representing New York’s 12th district since 1992, has recently shared his views on congestion pricing and political issues involving former President Donald Trump through a series of tweets. Nadler, who has been an influential figure in New York politics since serving in the New York State Assembly from 1977 to 1992, provides insights into both local and national matters.
On July 8, 2025, Nadler expressed satisfaction with the implementation of congestion pricing in New York City. He stated that “Six months in, congestion pricing is working and it’s more popular than ever.” He highlighted several benefits such as reduced traffic, safer streets, cleaner air, increased transit ridership, and new funding for the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA). Nadler emphasized his long-term advocacy for this initiative by stating he is “proud to have fought to make this a reality for decades.”
In another tweet dated July 10, 2025, Nadler criticized actions allegedly taken under Donald Trump’s influence. He remarked on federal law enforcement’s surveillance activities concerning a former FBI Director due to online criticism of Trump. According to Nadler’s post “This is the reality we face with Donald Trump: federal law enforcement tailing a former FBI Director in unmarked cars…” He further accused Trump of using state power as an intimidation tool against political opponents.
Continuing his critique on July 10, 2025, Nadler addressed comments made by the Trump administration regarding “secret police.” In his tweet “It’s telling that the Trump administration brought up ‘secret police’ unprompted,” he clarified that neither Brad Lander nor his staffer had assaulted anyone. Additionally, he referenced extensive photographic and video evidence showing Department of Homeland Security agents operating without clear identification.
Nadler was born in New York City in 1947 and currently resides in Manhattan. A graduate of Columbia University and Fordham University School of Law, he continues to serve as a prominent voice for his constituents.
