U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Matthew Rudy, a 43-year-old resident of Jamestown, NY, has been sentenced to 60 months in prison. Rudy was convicted as an accessory after the fact in connection with the murder of Joseph Anthony. The sentence was handed down by Senior U.S. District Judge William M. Skretny.

Assistant U.S. Attorneys Michael J. Adler and Timothy C. Lynch detailed the events leading to Rudy’s conviction. On May 27, 2014, Anthony Neubauer kidnapped Joseph Anthony and transported him from Jamestown to property owned by Rudy in Pennsylvania under false pretenses involving cocaine. Upon arrival, Neubauer and Rudy revealed they had no cocaine before shooting Anthony and burying him on the property. They targeted Anthony because they believed he was cooperating with authorities.

Anthony Neubauer has already been convicted for his role in the crime and is awaiting sentencing.

The investigation into this case was conducted by the Jamestown Police Department led by Chief Timothy Jackson and the Federal Bureau of Investigation under Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm, with support from the Warren County, PA, District Attorney’s Office.
