U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Raymond Medina, a 19-year-old resident of Jamestown, NY, has been sentenced to 48 months in prison. Medina was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine. The sentence was handed down by U.S. District Judge Lawrence J. Vilardo.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Donna M. Duncan, who is overseeing the case, detailed the events leading to Medina’s arrest on February 28, 2024. Jamestown Police responded to a domestic incident at a residence where an order of protection against Medina was in place. Officers observed Medina leaving the premises and attempted to make contact with him.
Medina became argumentative and resisted when officers tried to detain him, claiming “I don’t got nothing bro.” He fled on foot after appearing to reach for his waistband. Despite deploying a taser unsuccessfully, officers tracked Medina using footprints in the snow and a K-9 unit. He was found hiding behind a shed and taken into custody without further incident.
During the pursuit, officers recovered methamphetamine packaged for individual sale along Medina’s escape route.
The investigation involved efforts from the Jamestown Police Department under Chief Timothy Jackson and the Drug Enforcement Administration led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank A. Tarentino III of the New York Field Division.
