The U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Buffalo Field Office has announced the arrest of Adan Chacon, a 73-year-old Salvadoran national and convicted child sex offender.
According to ICE in Buffalo, agents apprehended Chacon on November 13, 2025, as part of an operation targeting violent sexual predators unlawfully present in the United States. Chacon had previously been convicted in Suffolk County, New York, for committing a criminal sexual act against a child under the age of 11 and was sentenced to six years in prison. ICE identified him as one of its “Worst of the Worst” due to the severity of his crimes and his illegal presence in the country.
In fiscal year 2024, ICE’s Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) arrested over 73,000 noncitizens with criminal convictions, including 2,600 offenders convicted of sexual crimes involving minors. The Buffalo Field Office contributed to more than 1,000 arrests during this period, focusing on public safety threats and repeat criminal offenders.
Sex crimes against minors result in some of the longest average prison sentences among violent crimes in New York. Offenders serve a median sentence of 5.8 years according to the state’s Department of Criminal Justice Services. In 2024, New York recorded 1,982 arrests for child sexual abuse offenses—a decrease of 4% from 2023—following targeted law enforcement operations.
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), established in 2003 under the Department of Homeland Security, is tasked with enforcing immigration laws, investigating cross-border criminal activity, and removing individuals who pose public safety risks. The Buffalo Field Office oversees operations across Western and Upstate New York and works with local law enforcement agencies to identify and detain high-risk criminal aliens. ICE’s mission focuses on protecting the homeland through smart and effective enforcement strategies.
