Congressman Nick Langworthy announced on April 30 that the House has passed the Farm, Food, and National Security Act of 2026, a comprehensive Farm Bill featuring several provisions sponsored by Langworthy to support rural communities in Western New York and the Southern Tier.

The bill is significant because it aims to strengthen agricultural sectors, expand economic opportunities in rural areas, and improve access to services such as telehealth and workforce development. The legislation incorporates multiple bills authored by Langworthy, including the GRAPE Act, MAPLE Act, SAP Act, CAREERS Act, and the Rural Telehealth and Education Enhancement Act.

“As a former member of the Agriculture Committee, I know how much work and negotiation went into this legislation,” said Congressman Langworthy. “This final package reflects real input from the farmers, producers, and growers from across the nation. I’m proud that several of my bills are included and will deliver direct benefits to Western New York and the Southern Tier. I’ll always fight to make sure our rural communities have a seat at the table and the support they deserve.”

Langworthy highlighted additional reforms in the bill such as expanding SNAP eligibility for hot foods like rotisserie chickens and addressing liability protections for pesticide manufacturers. The measure passed with a vote of 224–200; fourteen Democrats joined Republicans in favor—the highest level of bipartisan support for a House Farm Bill since 2008. More than ninety-six percent of House Republicans supported it.

Langworthy’s provisions include crop insurance for grape growers through the GRAPE Act; expansion of nutrition programs via MAPLE Act; reauthorization of industry programs under SAP Act; workforce development enhancements with CAREERS Act; as well as funding for broadband infrastructure through his Rural Telehealth initiative.

Langworthy emphasizes constituent service within his district responsibilities according to his official website. He also played key roles in airline safety reforms within previous legislation such as FAA Reauthorization Acts while drawing on family roots from Jamestown after winning election to represent New York’s 23rd Congressional District in 2022.

The passage marks what supporters say is a unified commitment to rural America with next steps likely involving Senate consideration before becoming law.
