U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo has announced that Jose Manuel Ramos-Godoy, a 42-year-old Honduran citizen, pleaded guilty to illegal re-entry and was sentenced to three months in federal prison by U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Fauzia K. Mattingly explained that Ramos-Godoy is an alien without legal status in the United States. He had been removed from the country twice before, in July 2006 and September 2014. On May 13, 2025, he was discovered in Erie County while driving in a hotel parking lot in Amherst, New York, without any lawful documentation.

This case is part of Operation Take Back America, which aims to combat illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime.

The investigation leading to Ramos-Godoy’s plea and sentencing was conducted by the U.S. Border Patrol under the leadership of Patrol Agent in Charge Martin B. Coombs.
