The Village of Hastings-on-Hudson will hold its annual Spring Thing event on Warburton Avenue from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM, Mayor Tom Drake announced on May 14. This year’s theme focuses on promoting volunteerism within the community.

The event aims to connect residents with local boards, committees, commissions, and departments by inviting these groups to host informational tables. Mayor Drake said he asked all Village entities to participate so that “residents can come downtown, learn more about their work, and explore opportunities to get involved in ways that best fit their interests and availability.” He added that the Conservation Commission and other environment-related committees have special activities planned for attendees.

In addition to municipal representatives, more than sixty-five local community organizations have registered for the event. These groups play a key role in supporting Hastings-on-Hudson and are looking for new volunteers. The mayor said he is excited about the high level of participation this year.

Attendees are encouraged to visit local businesses during the festivities and stop by Protection Engine Company No. 1 for food as it celebrates its 150th anniversary. The day will also feature live music, family-friendly activities, and opportunities for residents of all ages to engage with their community.

“Even if you’re not quite ready to volunteer, Spring Thing is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about the many people, organizations, and services that help make our Village thrive,” Drake said. He noted that he and other Board of Trustees members will be present throughout the day to answer questions from residents.
