U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest of Gerald T. Przybylski, 78, from Hamburg, New York. Przybylski faces charges for allegedly transmitting threats via the internet to a member of Congress. The charges carry a potential penalty of up to five years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Charles M. Kruly is managing the case. According to the complaint, on June 13, 2025, Przybylski sent an email threatening a United States House Representative. The email included statements such as “You are obviously unaware of the movement to execute Trump and all his Republican sycophants” and “You should be afraid for your life!!!” During an interview with law enforcement, Przybylski reportedly said, “I was probably trying to scare him.”
Przybylski appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Michael J. Roemer and was released under certain conditions.
The investigation involved several agencies: Erie County Sheriff’s Office led by Sheriff John Garcia; United States Secret Service under Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Charles Perras; Federal Bureau of Investigation directed by Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm; and United States Capitol Police headed by Chief Michael Sullivan.
It is important to note that charging someone with a crime is only an accusation and does not imply guilt unless proven otherwise in court.
