Governor Kathy Hochul has responded to President Trump’s recent remarks regarding New York, expressing approval of the president’s stated commitment to the state and shared goals. In a statement issued on November 21, 2025, Hochul said, “I welcome President Trump’s renewed commitment today to New York’s success and his acknowledgment of our shared priorities: lowering costs and improving public safety.”

Hochul also addressed political attacks directed at Mayor-Elect Mamdani. She stated, “I also appreciate that the President rejected efforts by members of his own party to weaponize the mayor-elect’s background, faith, and identity for political gain, including the Islamophobic attacks labeling him a ‘jihadist.’ There’s no place for rhetoric like that in our politics or in New York.”

The governor concluded her statement by expressing willingness to collaborate with federal leadership while emphasizing her intention to stand firm on key issues. “I look forward to working with President Trump and Mayor-Elect Mamdani to deliver for New Yorkers. But as I’ve always said, I’ll work with the President when it benefits New Yorkers, and I’ll fight like hell when our values are at stake.”
