The Recreation Department announced on June 3 its schedule for Thursday Night Summer Concerts, held in cooperation with Steve Dassa Entertainment. The concerts will take place at the Gazebo on the Village Green, located at the corner of Stewart and Hilton Avenues, beginning at 7:15 p.m. In case of rain, shows will be moved indoors to Cluett Hall at 295 Stewart Avenue. Due to limited seating, proof of residency in the Incorporated Village will be required for admission.

The lineup begins July 9 with Sound Chaser, described as Long Island’s hottest dance band and featuring music selections from the 1940s through today. This performance is sponsored by Hofstra University. On July 16, Vinnie Medugno & the Chiclettes are scheduled to perform; Medugno is known for engaging performances and will be joined by The Chiclettes.

On July 23, Dr. K’s Reflection of Motown will feature songs from Motown’s female super groups including The Supremes and Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. July 30 brings The Fireflies to Garden City; their hits include “You Were Mine,” a doo wop classic, as well as “I Can’t Say Goodbye” and “Because of My Pride.”

August concerts include Blue Angel on August 6—a five-piece band playing songs across decades from Motown to contemporary hits—with sponsorship from Hofstra University. On August 12, Teresa McClean’s A Girl’s Night Out is set to perform; McClean is recognized for her unique style and strong vocals.

For more information about the concert series or specific performances, residents may contact Garden City Recreation and Parks at 516-465-4075. Attendees are reminded that there are no restroom facilities available at the GC Gazebo and should bring blankets or chairs for seating.
