The New Rochelle Police Department announced on May 8 that Samuel McVey, a fugitive wanted for criminal contempt, was extradited from Louisiana and taken into custody on May 7.

McVey’s arrest is significant as it demonstrates ongoing cooperation between law enforcement agencies to apprehend individuals facing serious charges who attempt to evade justice by fleeing across state lines.

According to the department, McVey was stopped by officers of the Baton Rouge Police Department in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on April 24. He was arrested based on a fully extraditable warrant for Criminal Contempt in the Second Degree. Investigators then coordinated his return to New York.

The New Rochelle Police Department stated that through joint efforts with the Westchester County Police Warrant/Fugitive Unit, McVey was transported back to New York State and taken into custody without incident. The department commended both the Baton Rouge Police Department and the Westchester County unit for their professionalism and dedication in helping apprehend McVey and ensuring his return to face justice.

Upon arrival in New York, McVey was charged with multiple counts of misdemeanor and felony Criminal Contempt as well as Aggravated Harassment. He is currently awaiting arraignment. The police said they remain committed to pursuing those who evade law enforcement regardless of where they flee and will continue working with various agencies to serve outstanding warrants.
