U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Kevin Burns, a 45-year-old from Irondequoit, NY, has pleaded guilty to possession of child pornography involving a prepubescent minor. This offense carries a potential maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

The case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Katelyn M. Hartford. She reported that the New York State Police executed a search warrant at Burns’ residence on November 5, 2024, following his upload of a child pornography file to Bing Image. The search led to the seizure of electronic devices including a computer containing over 450 images of child pornography. Some images depicted violence against children and sexual exploitation of an infant or toddler.

This plea results from an investigation conducted by the New York State Police under Major Kevin Sucher and the Federal Bureau of Investigation led by Acting Special Agent-in-Charge Mark Grimm.

Sentencing for Burns is set for October 29, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., presided over by Judge Meredith A. Vacca.
