FOIA Request to SUNY Oneonta regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.
Empire State Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to SUNY Oneonta seeking detailed records of employee compensation for Fiscal Year 2024. The request, made under the New York Freedom of Information Law, aims to obtain comprehensive data on salaries and other forms of compensation for all individuals employed by the university during this period.
The requested information includes various data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly wage), and employment type (full-time or part-time). The media organization seeks these records in electronic format and has requested that any exempt portions be redacted rather than withheld entirely.
Empire State Today emphasizes its role in gathering and reporting news to hold public institutions accountable and provide transparency. As part of their professional responsibilities and given their status as a media entity, they have requested a fee waiver for accessing these public records. Additionally, the requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, an organization dedicated to investigating governmental agencies and promoting transparency through FOIA requests.
We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
