FOIA Request to State University of New York at New Paltz regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.
Empire State Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to the State University of New York at New Paltz. The request seeks detailed records of employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This inquiry is made under the New York Freedom of Information Law, N.Y. Pub. Off. Law sec. 84 et seq., with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.
The request specifically asks for records or reports containing various data fields, including but not limited to: fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). Empire State Today acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record and requests that all responsive records be produced regardless.
In instances where parts of a record are deemed exempt from disclosure, Empire State Today requests that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely. As a media organization committed to transparency and accountability in public institutions, Empire State Today has requested a fee waiver due to its role in gathering and disseminating news to the public.
The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this coalition can be found on their website here.
