FOIA Request to SUNY Maritime College regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.
Empire State Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to SUNY Maritime College seeking detailed records of employee compensation for Fiscal Year 2024. The request was made under the New York Freedom of Information Law, with a preference for receiving the information in electronic format.
The request specifically asks for records showing employee compensation details for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This includes various data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount and type, and employment type. Empire State Today has indicated that they understand not all fields may be present in every record but have requested that all responsive records be produced regardless.
In addition to the data fields requested, Empire State Today seeks any segregable non-exempt portions of records if certain parts are deemed exempt from disclosure. They have also requested a fee waiver due to their role as a media organization involved in gathering and reporting news to the public.
Empire State Today is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through FOIA requests.
