FOIA Request to SUNY Geneseo regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.

Empire State Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to SUNY Geneseo seeking detailed records of employee compensation for Fiscal Year 2024. The request was sent under the New York Freedom of Information Law, N.Y. Pub. Off. Law sec. 84 et seq., and seeks the information in electronic format.

The request specifically asks for records that include data fields such as fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). The media organization acknowledges that not all fields may be present in every record but requests that all responsive records be produced regardless of completeness. In cases where parts of a record are exempt from disclosure, Empire State Today requests that non-exempt portions be released in redacted form.

As a media entity dedicated to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs and holding public institutions accountable through transparency, Empire State Today emphasizes its role in disseminating information to the public. The organization also notes its affiliation with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit corporation focused on leveraging FOIA and Sunshine Laws to promote government transparency—and has requested a fee waiver based on its media status.

We look forward to receiving this information in an electronic format as it will greatly aid in our reporting efforts. As always, we remain open for any questions or clarifications regarding this request.
