FOIA Request to CUNY Medgar Evers College regarding Public University FY 2024 Employee Salaries on December 5, 2025.
Empire State Today has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to CUNY Medgar Evers College. The request seeks detailed records of employee compensation for all individuals employed by the university during Fiscal Year 2024. This inquiry is part of Empire State Today’s commitment to providing comprehensive news coverage on local governmental affairs.
The requested information includes various data fields such as the fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth, date of birth, employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (e.g., salary, hourly, stipend, bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time). The request specifies that these records should be provided in electronic format and should adhere to the university’s official fiscal-year definitions if they differ from the commonly understood timeframe of September 2024 through July 2025.
Empire State Today acknowledges that not all fields may exist in every record but requests the production of all responsive records regardless. In cases where portions of a record are exempt from disclosure under New York law, the media organization asks for any non-exempt portions to be released in redacted form rather than withheld entirely.
As a member of The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy—a non-profit organization assisting media companies in investigating government actions—Empire State Today emphasizes its role in holding public institutions accountable and providing transparency. The organization has also requested a fee waiver for this FOIA request due to its status as a media professional entity.
