FOIA Request to CUNY Lehman College regarding public university FY 2024 employee salaries on December 5, 2025.

Empire State Today, a media organization dedicated to providing comprehensive and accurate news coverage on local governmental affairs, has submitted a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to CUNY Lehman College. The request seeks detailed records of employee compensation for all individuals employed by the University during Fiscal Year 2024. The requested information is intended to be used in the organization’s efforts to ensure transparency and accountability within public institutions.

The request specifically asks for records or reports containing various data fields related to employee compensation. These fields include the fiscal year, employee name, gender, age or year of birth (if not exempt), date of birth (if not exempt or limited to month/year), employer name, title or position, department, hire date, compensation amount (including base pay and any additional pay), compensation type (such as salary, hourly wage, stipend, or bonus), and employment type (full-time or part-time).

Empire State Today has emphasized that they understand not all fields may exist in every record. However, they have requested the production of all responsive records regardless of whether each field is present. In cases where portions of a record are deemed exempt from disclosure, they have asked for the release of all reasonably segregable non-exempt portions in redacted form rather than withholding them entirely.

As a member of the media involved in gathering and reporting news to the public, Empire State Today asserts that access to these public records is crucial for fulfilling their professional responsibilities. They also seek a fee waiver based on their role as media professionals disseminating information to the public.

The requestor is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that assists media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental agencies through Freedom of Information and Sunshine Laws. More information about this organization can be found at https://stopsecrecy.org/about/.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
