A federal jury has found Trenton Grant, 31, of Jamestown, New York, guilty on several charges related to drug trafficking and firearms offenses. The announcement was made by U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo.
Grant was convicted of possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, fentanyl, and cocaine. He was also found guilty of possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking crimes and being a felon in possession of a firearm and ammunition. These charges carry a mandatory minimum sentence of 20 years in prison and could result in up to life imprisonment.
Assistant U.S. Attorneys Johsua A. Violanti and Stacey Jacovetti prosecuted the case. According to their statements, the Olean Police Department began investigating Grant’s activities in May 2023. On July 25, 2023, officers executed search warrants on Grant’s vehicle and person. They recovered about 71 grams of methamphetamine, five grams of cocaine, roughly four grams of fentanyl, as well as a loaded firearm and ammunition from the trunk of his car. Authorities later determined that the firearm had been reported stolen.
At the time of his arrest, Grant was on parole for a previous felony conviction from February 2016 for Assault with Intent to Cause Serious Injury with a Weapon. Because of this prior conviction, he was legally barred from possessing any firearms.
The investigation leading to Grant’s conviction involved cooperation between the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), led by Special Agent-in-Charge Frank Tarentino from the New York Field Division, and the Olean Police Department under Chief Ron Richardson.
Sentencing is set for February 4, 2026 before U.S. District Judge John L. Sinatra, Jr., who presided over the trial.
