Ed Cox, chair of the New York Republican Party, has expressed support for Elise Stefanik following her recent announcement regarding next year’s statewide election. In a statement released from Albany, Cox described Stefanik as “a unifier and a party builder with the brains, the guts and the resources to win statewide next year. She has fought for our principles every day of her career, and never backs down. She is the warrior we need to lead the fight against Democrats’ corrupt Albany machine.”
Cox criticized current leadership in New York, attributing issues such as high taxes and affordability concerns to Governor Kathy Hochul and Democratic lawmakers. He stated: “Thanks to Kathy Hochul and Democrats, New York leads the nation in outmigration as the most taxed, least free, least affordable state in America. There will not be a Republican primary and a year from now, Elise will lead our team to victory over Kathy Hochul, end one-party Democrat rule, and make New York affordable again.”
Kathy Hochul has served as governor of New York since 2021. She is a member of the Democratic Party and is recognized as New York’s first female governor (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kathy_Hochul).
