Segundo Juan Maynato-Guaman, a 46-year-old Ecuadorian citizen, has been charged with re-entering the United States illegally. U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced that Maynato-Guaman was arrested and charged by criminal complaint. If convicted, he faces up to two years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The case is being managed by Assistant U.S. Attorney Nicholas M. Testani. According to the complaint, on June 25, 2025, Rochester Border Patrol Agents stopped Maynato-Guaman’s vehicle at Brockport-Spencerport Road and Washington Street. Upon questioning about his citizenship, he stated “Ecuador” and presented a New York State ID under the name Segundo Mainato-Guaman. He admitted to being in the U.S. illegally without documents. A records check revealed that he had been removed from the country in December 2009.
This arrest is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative aimed at combating illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations (TCOs). The operation consolidates efforts from the Department of Justice’s Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Forces (OCDETFs) and Project Safe Neighborhood (PSN).
Maynato-Guaman appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Colleen D. Holland and was detained pending further proceedings.
The investigation leading to this charge was conducted by U.S. Border Patrol under Patrol Agent-in-Charge Juan Ramirez, Jr.’s direction.
It should be noted that charging a defendant is merely an accusation; they are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
