Major League Baseball Pipeline announced on May 13 its latest assessment of the top-performing pitching prospects across all MLB organizations for the early part of the 2026 season. The report, compiled by Jim Callis, Sam Dykstra, and Jonathan Mayo, identifies one standout pitcher from each club based on recent performances in minor league play.
The evaluation comes as many young pitchers are still building up innings and pitch counts at the start of the season. Despite this, several prospects have delivered notable starts strong enough to earn recognition as their organization’s hottest arm.
Among those featured are seven Top 100 overall prospects who have met or exceeded expectations so far. However, other highlighted pitchers include lesser-known names and even an unranked player who has posted exceptional results in his first professional outings. The list spans both American League and National League teams, with detailed notes on each player’s performance statistics such as earned run average (ERA), strikeouts-to-walks ratios (K/BB), and other advanced metrics.
For example, Elmer Rodriguez of the New York Yankees was acquired from Boston in a trade during the 2024 Winter Meetings and has posted a 1.38 ERA with Triple-A hitters this spring after a challenging start at the major league level. Other notable mentions include Johnny King of Toronto’s High-A affiliate with a standout ERA despite being one of the youngest players in his league; Anthony Eyanson for Boston with increased velocity since joining pro ball; and Robby Snelling making his big-league debut after dominating Triple-A opponents for Miami.
The report also offers context on how these prospects were acquired—whether through recent drafts or trades—and describes specific strengths such as pitch velocity increases or advanced off-speed offerings that have contributed to their early success. Some players are noted for rapid promotions through minor league levels due to strong starts.
Looking ahead, continued monitoring is expected as these pitchers develop over the course of the season. The ongoing progress will likely influence future organizational decisions regarding promotions to higher levels or potential major league debuts.
