A Dutchess County man has been charged with the sexual exploitation of a minor following an investigation by federal authorities. Daniel Alan Monarchi, 26, was arrested and appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Andrew E. Krause in White Plains federal court on August 22, 2025.

United States Attorney for the Southern District of New York Jay Clayton stated, “Sexual exploitation of children is too prevalent in our society. Parents, caregivers, and teachers: if you sense something wrong, please seek assistance. Sexual exploitation of children by teachers and others we entrust must be stopped.”

FBI Assistant Director in Charge Christopher G. Raia said, “We entrust teachers with the responsibility of helping to care for our children and not harm them by engaging in sexual exploitation of minors. Daniel Monarchi, a special education teacher, allegedly conducted multiple sexually explicit conversations with victims he knew to be minors. The FBI will continue to bring to justice any individual who endangers minor victims with sexually explicit behavior and actions.”

According to the allegations detailed in a complaint filed on August 19, 2025, Monarchi worked as a special education teacher at a middle school identified as School-1 in Dutchess County. In September 2024, a Discord account using the name “mrteacherman” contacted Victim-1, a 14-year-old student. The account engaged Victim-1 in sexual conversations over several weeks and requested sexually explicit videos from her. The messages included statements such as asking if she had “any sexy classmates” and referring to her as his “after school snack.” Eventually, Victim-1 sent three videos where she appeared naked and later received images from “mrteacherman,” including one displaying his face and another showing his erect penis.

In February 2025, Victim-2—13 years old—was also contacted by the same Discord account. The communications included discussions about sexual acts involving both Victim-2 and another minor referred to as Victim-3. “Mrteacherman” made comments like making students stay after class for “extra credit” and reassured Victim-2 that her pictures would not be downloaded or saved. He sent photos from his classroom and repeatedly sent images of his penis as well as videos of himself masturbating.

Victim-3 reported similar contact from “mrteacherman,” noting that he wanted to engage in sexual role play before she blocked him.

The investigation connected Monarchi’s identity through several means: his name appears on School-1’s public staff directory listing him as a special education teacher; photos sent by “mrteacherman” matched School-1’s building exterior; and New York Motor Vehicle records confirmed that Monarchi’s photo resembled the selfie sent to one victim.

Authorities believe there may be additional victims related to this case. Anyone with information or who interacted with the Discord account “mrteacherman.” is encouraged to contact the FBI Tip Line at 1-800-CALL-FBI or submit information via tips.fbi.gov.

Monarchi faces one count of sexual exploitation of a minor—a charge carrying a mandatory minimum sentence of 15 years in prison up to a maximum sentence of 30 years as set by Congress; actual sentencing will be determined by the judge.

U.S. Attorney Clayton commended efforts from multiple agencies including the FBI Hudson Valley Safe Streets Task Force, Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, New York State Police, and FBI Columbia (South Carolina) Division.

The case is being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Patricia M. Reville from the Office’s White Plains Division.

All facts described are allegations at this stage.
