Downtown Brooklyn Partnership announced on May 19 the launch of a digital guide to the Downtown Brooklyn Cultural District on Bloomberg Connects, an arts and culture app created by Bloomberg Philanthropies.

The new guide aims to make it easier for residents and visitors to explore the district’s cultural organizations, public spaces, and art installations. It is available for free through the Bloomberg Connects app and features highlights of performing arts centers, libraries, galleries, music venues, and community spaces throughout Downtown Brooklyn.

Users can access a self-guided audio tour that covers permanent public art installations and cultural landmarks in the area. Regina Myer, President of Downtown Brooklyn Partnership, said: “Downtown Brooklyn’s Cultural District has long been at the heart of the neighborhood’s identity and growth.” On preserving that legacy, Myer added: “As Downtown Brooklyn continues to evolve, it is critical that we celebrate the cultural institutions, public art, and creative communities that define this neighborhood’s legacy. This new guide makes it easier for residents and visitors alike to experience the extraordinary arts and cultural ecosystem that continues to shape Downtown Brooklyn today.”

The district includes well-known institutions such as Brooklyn Academy of Music, BRIC, ISSUE Project Room, Mark Morris Dance Group, Theatre for a New Audience, UrbanGlass, The Center for Fiction, and L10 Arts and Cultural Center. Arts organizations have played an important role in shaping Downtown Brooklyn’s identity as one of New York City’s major destinations for culture.

Bloomberg Connects hosts hundreds of guides from global cultural organizations. The platform offers multimedia content including audio tours with expert commentary designed to enhance both in-person visits and virtual experiences. According to Bloomberg Philanthropies’ ongoing commitment cited in the announcement release text above (no factoids present), this initiative supports expanding access to arts through digital innovation.

The Bloomberg Connects app can be downloaded at no cost from both Apple App Store and Google Play.
