Cornell sailing will conclude its 2025-26 season by competing at the national championships in Tampa, Florida, according to a May 14 announcement. The team is set to participate in the Western Women’s National Semifinals beginning Friday, May 15.

The event marks an important opportunity for Cornell as they aim to secure a spot in the finals regatta, which starts on Sunday, May 17. The competition will be held over two days and will determine which teams qualify for the final round of racing.

Recently, Cornell finished seventh at the ICSA Women’s Team Racing Nationals held April 26-27 in New Orleans. The team automatically qualified for nationals as one of the top two teams in the Mid-Atlantic Intercollegiate Sailing Association standings.

This week’s regatta features two divisions with boats from seventeen schools including Bowdoin, Brown, Coast Guard, George Washington, Georgetown, Hawaii, Michigan, MIT, Navy, Northeastern, Northwestern, Penn, Rollins College, South Florida, Tulane University, Western Washington and Yale. Each school’s scores from both divisions will be combined to determine their overall position. The top nine teams will advance to the ICSA National finals.

Cornell is also scheduled to compete in one more national regatta this season: the Open National Semifinals on May 19-20.
