City of Newburgh launches public vote for 2026 Summer Movies Contest

The City of Newburgh announced on May 13 the launch of the 2026 Summer Movies Contest, inviting residents to vote for their preferred films to be shown during the city’s Summer Movie Series at Safe Harbors Green.

The contest allows community members to participate in selecting family-friendly movies that will be screened free of charge. The initiative is supported by the City of Newburgh Community Development Block Grant and aims to foster community engagement through shared cultural events.

Films under consideration include “Zootopia 2,” “A Minecraft Movie,” “Goat,” “The Grinch (2018),” “Hoppers,” “Smurfs,” “Lilo & Stitch,” “Wicked: For Good,” “Frozen,” “Trolls,” “Space Jam (1996),” “Gabby’s Dollhouse: The Movie,” “How to Train Your Dragon,” “Ratatouille,” “The Bad Guys 2,” and “The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants.” Residents can cast their votes online at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/BJ2WJF3. Online voting closes on Monday, June 1, 2026.

According to the announcement, the Summer Movie Night schedule will take place on Thursdays: June 18, June 25, July 9, July 16, July 23, and July 30. All screenings are open to the public at no cost.
