City of Newburgh announces upcoming council work session and regular meeting for May

The City of Newburgh announced on May 15 that the next City Council work session will take place in person on Thursday, May 21, 2026, at 6:00 p.m. in the Council Chambers at City Hall, located at 83 Broadway, Newburgh. The following regular council meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, May 26, 2026, starting at 7:00 p.m., also in the Council Chambers.

These meetings are open to the public and will be streamed live through the city’s website and Facebook pages. Recordings of each meeting will be made available after they conclude.

According to the announcement, immediately after the conclusion of the work session on May 21, it is expected that the City Council will convene an executive session. The executive session is planned to discuss proposed or pending litigation as well as medical, financial, credit or employment history of a particular person or corporation. It may also address matters leading to appointment, employment, promotion, demotion, discipline, suspension or removal of a particular person or corporation.

Members of the public who wish to comment on agenda items or general city matters can do so in person during these meetings. Alternatively, comments may be submitted by email to comments@cityofnewburgh-ny.gov with “PUBLIC COMMENT ITEM” in the subject line before 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 26.
