The City of New Rochelle Department of Parks and Recreation and the Ward Acres Conservancy announced on May 18 that Goatsfest 2026 will take place on Saturday, June 6, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Ward Acres Park, across from William B. Ward Elementary School.

Goatsfest is described as a family-friendly event focused on sustainability, community engagement, and the annual return of grazing goats to the park. The festival will feature live music, food trucks, environmental exhibits, local vendors, guided walks and educational talks, demonstrations, and activities for all ages. Sustainable practices such as composting and recycling will also be highlighted during the event.

A herd of approximately thirty goats provided by Hudson Valley Forestry will be present near the festival grounds to help clear invasive plant growth using targeted grazing techniques. The goats will remain inside secure solar-powered fencing for safety reasons and will not be available for petting.

“Goatsfest has become one of New Rochelle’s most anticipated community events because it brings together environmental stewardship, education, and family fun in a truly memorable way,” said Council Member Sara Kaye. “Seeing nearly 30 goats helping restore the park naturally demonstrates how innovative and sustainable solutions can strengthen our public spaces and connect residents to the outdoors.” Steve Cadenhead, President of the Ward Acres Conservancy said: “The goats are more than a novelty — they’re an effective and environmentally responsible tool for managing invasive vegetation and improving the health of the park. Goatsfest gives the community an opportunity to see that work up close while celebrating the beauty, ecology, and shared value of Ward Acres Park.” Parks & Recreation Commissioner Vincent Parise added: “Our parks are places where community, education, and environmental responsibility come together. Goatsfest is a perfect example of the creative partnerships and programming that help activate our parks, engage residents of all ages, and promote long-term stewardship of New Rochelle’s natural resources.”

Ward Acres Park covers sixty-eight acres with open fields, woodlands, walking paths including a dog park considered one of Westchester County’s largest facilities for dogs.

Sponsors this year include Academy Tennis Innovators; MPG Manhattan Parking; Monroe University; Como Dental Designs; GOAT USA Apparel; New York Knicks; Friends of New Rochelle Parks Fund; Ward Acres Conservancy Group; along with other partners.

Free parking is available at William B. Ward Elementary School or along Broadfield Road where permitted. Visitors are encouraged to walk or bike when possible or use public transit options such as Bee-Line’s route 45Q bus service.
