The City College of New York Department of Athletics and Recreation announced on May 20 a leadership change for its men’s volleyball program as the Beavers prepare to start a new chapter.

This transition is significant for the program, which has seen growth in recent years under outgoing Head Coach Nick Diunte. The department expressed gratitude to Diunte for his leadership, dedication, and commitment over the past three seasons.

“CCNY Athletics extends its sincere gratitude to former Head Coach Nick Diunte for his leadership, dedication, and commitment to the program over the past three seasons,” said Sebastian Bush, Assistant AD/External Relations. During Diunte’s tenure, he mentored two All-Conference selections and three Sportsmanship Team honorees while leading the team to a postseason appearance in 2024. Bush also said that beyond accomplishments on the court, “Diunte made a lasting impact on the student-athlete experience through his leadership, mentorship, and dedication to the program both on and off the court.”

According to CCNY Athletics, Diunte will step away from coaching duties in order to focus on other career obligations and responsibilities. The department thanked him for his contributions and wished him continued success moving forward.

The search for new leadership signals an important period ahead as CCNY aims to build upon recent achievements within its men’s volleyball program.
