U.S. Attorney Michael DiGiacomo announced the arrest of Aden Ibrahim, 29, from Buffalo, New York. Ibrahim faces charges for being a felon in possession of ammunition, which could result in a maximum sentence of 15 years in prison.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Timothy C. Lynch stated that on July 9, 2025, Buffalo Police responded to a residence on Woodette Place after receiving a report about an “Unwelcomed Guest.” The complainant informed officers that an individual known as “Beano” refused to leave and was in possession of crack cocaine and a firearm. Officers identified “Beano” as Aden Ibrahim through his U.S. Permanent Resident Card when he attempted to flee the scene.
Detectives discovered a revolver with tape on its handle inside the residence and linked it to Ibrahim. A search warrant led to the seizure of a revolver, ammunition, approximately 26 grams of suspected crack cocaine base, and drug paraphernalia. Ibrahim has prior felony convictions from March 2022 and January 2024, prohibiting him from possessing ammunition.
Ibrahim appeared before U.S. District Judge Michael J. Romer and was detained.
This case is part of Operation Take Back America, an initiative by the Department of Justice aimed at addressing illegal immigration and dismantling cartels and transnational criminal organizations while protecting communities from violent crime perpetrators.
The investigation involved collaboration between the Buffalo Police Department under Commissioner Alphonso Wright’s direction and Homeland Security Investigations led by Special Agent-in-Charge Erin Keegan.
“The fact that a defendant has been charged with a crime is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.”
