Bruce Morris, also known as “G,” was sentenced to 27 years in prison for his role in the 2016 murder of Jerome Jemison and for conspiracy to distribute crack cocaine and heroin. The sentencing was handed down by U.S. District Judge Jesse M. Furman following a jury trial in January 2025. Morris was convicted of conspiracy to distribute narcotics and of using, carrying, and brandishing a firearm during that conspiracy. After an evidentiary hearing, Judge Furman determined that Morris was responsible for Jemison’s murder.

“In 2016, Bruce Morris murdered Jerome Jemison in the middle of the day on the landing of a public stairwell of an apartment building in the Bronx, a building that he terrorized for over a decade,” said U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton. “Morris has now been held accountable for his heinous crimes.”

According to information presented during court proceedings, from at least 2012 through June 2023, Morris led a narcotics operation based out of an apartment at 868 Faile Street in the Hunts Point neighborhood of the Bronx. He used firearms and threats or acts of violence to maintain control over his drug business and intimidate residents in the building where his family lived. At one point, when confronted by the building superintendent about occupying a vacant apartment, Morris threatened him with a gun.

On August 11, 2016, on the third floor of 868 Faile Street, Morris shot Sal in the back of his head over a drug debt during daylight hours; Sal was 46 years old.

In addition to his prison sentence, Morris will serve five years under supervised release.

U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton commended both the Federal Bureau of Investigation and New York City Police Department for their work on this case.

The prosecution was managed by Assistant U.S. Attorneys Matthew Weinberg, Camille L. Fletcher, Jeffrey W. Coyle, Jackie Delligatti, and Marguerite B. Colson from the Office’s Narcotics Unit with assistance from Paralegal Specialist Jackie Fleury.
